Eastlake Emergency Communications Hub

The Eastlake Emergency Communications Hub is located at:

Rogers Playground, 2516 Eastlake Ave E

Eastlake Ready!

Our Eastlake Hub is a place where neighbors and other community members can gather after a disaster. We will have an information exchange about conditions in Eastlake and Seattle and about local needs and resources. We will assume few if any City services for several days. While the Hub won’t have any supplies such as water or food, we hope to offer information about where supplies and shelter are available.

Hub volunteers have attended a number of training sessions and we normally hold at least a couple practice drills a year which we announce in advance. We hope to have several people on site during post-disaster operating hours, and we’ll also be looking for volunteers to help us. Please join us when you can. We welcome your participation.

A ham radio operator will use emergency protocols and establish communications with the Office of Emergency Management and with other neighborhood Hubs.

Preparing for a Disaster

Hub volunteers are encouraging neighbors to prepare for the challenges of life after a disaster — for residents that includes a necessities “kit” of food, water, medications, pet supplies, etc. for a 10-14 day period plus a family communications plan and a smaller kit for your workplace and car.

To see how to make a kit on a shoestring visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSRNP8moKx0.

For businesses, it means an emergency plan and a business continuity plan including insurance. A new booklet for workplace preparedness is available at http://www.seattle.gov/emergency-management/prepare/prepare-your-workplace.

The Seattle Office of Emergency Management offers SNAP (Seattle Neighborhoods Actively Prepare) programs to help neighbors plan, and trainers are available for groups of 20 or more. Programs are offered to businesses and community groups.

To schedule a SNAP presentation, use the form located at http://www.seattle.gov/emergency-management/prepare/prepare-your-neighborhood/seattle-neighborhoods-actively-prepare.
