The Old Boathouse - Historical Landmark Application

1200x0.jpg

Before The Center for Wooden Boat’s cofounder Colleen Wagner passed away last year, she began the incredibly important process of designating our floating structures as historical landmarks in Seattle. We have continued to carry that process and excited to share that the application is under review by the Seattle Landmark Preservation Board and a public hearing is scheduled for April 21, 2021 at 3:30pm.

In order to ensure that the board approves our application, we need as much public comment support as possible. This can happen a few ways:

  1. Submit public comment through the form on our webpage: https://www.cwb.org/cwb-landmarking (suggested text included, or you can write your own)

  2. E-mail Erin Doherty at erin.doherty@seattle.gov

The board will accept written public comment up until April 20th. Your word is valuable and crucial to helping us make this process happen. By designating these structures as historical landmarks, we ensure the history and importance of floating homes in Seattle and the legacy of The Center of Wooden Boats lives on to continue to provide access to the water for generations to come.

You can also help us spread the word. There are presentations, videos, and even a podcast describing our history and why this is important not just to our community, but the greater community of Seattle. https://www.cwb.org/cwb-landmarking
